Report: Tottenham agree to hand 'unbelievable' target £120k-a-week deal
Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on signing Adama Traore, with Give Me Sport reporting that they have agreed to pay the Wolves star £120,000-a-week ahead of an initial loan move.
Traore has looked destined to join Tottenham for some time. And it has appeared that agreeing the finer details was all that stood between Spurs and signing the Spain international, with Antonio Conte being the one to request the deal.
It had been suggested that Wolves wanted £30 million for the 26-year-old. However, it would appear that Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal that will cost significantly less.
According to Give Me Sport, Tottenham will need to pay £2.25 million to take Traore on loan. The move will then become permanent for £18 million in the summer.
Meanwhile, a large hurdle has been cleared. Give Me Sport reports that Spurs have agreed to pay him £120,000-a-week. Unsurprisingly, he will become one of the club’s highest earners with such a deal.
Pressure on Adama Traore as Tottenham commit to lucrative contract
Signing Adama Traore has always looked set to be a gamble for Tottenham. He is a player who divides opinion due to his inability to score lots of goals or provide bags of assists.
He has an amazing amount of potential. Jack Grealish previously suggested that he is ‘unbelievable‘. But it looks to be a huge roll of the dice to make Traore one of their highest-earners.
There is a lot of anticipation regarding what Antonio Conte could do with Traore. Obviously, the expectation is that he will be used as a wing-back on the right flank.
And clearly, if everything clicks, he could be an absolutely devastating player for Tottenham as they push for the top-four spots.
Spurs fans will hope that the terms on offer for Traore are a clear indication of how highly Conte rates him ahead of his seemingly-imminent move.
