Report: Tottenham agree move to sign 25-year-old on loan-to-buy deal, Leeds and West Ham miss out
CalcioMercato claim that Tottenham have beaten West Ham and Leeds United in the race to sign Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez. Tottenham have agreed a loan deal with an obligation to buy Uruguay international Nandez. That is, despite Leeds and West Ham opening talks recently.
Nandez, 25, has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League – after winning the Copa Libertadores with Boca Juniors. Then, he spent two excellent seasons at Cagliari in Serie A – but this summer, a move is likely. Now, Tottenham look set to have won the race to sign Nandez.
Like Spurs have done with Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini, Nandez initially will sign on loan as per the report. A loan fee will cost between £4.25million and £5million. An obligatory clause is likely to be a part of a deal for Nandez, worth just £17million. A bargain deal for Spurs.
Nandez £22million deal in total is an absolute bargain for Tottenham
Paratici strikes again. When Nandez a target for West Ham and Leeds, reports state that clubs would have to pay his release clause – worth as much as £30million. So, to get Nandez for £8million less than that – and not even have to pay the majority of that until permanent, is incredible.
Spurs have brought in Romero, Gollini and Bryan Gil but with two on loan and Gil’s asking price reduced by including Erik Lamela – they have hardly spent much at all. Adding £5million at most for Nandez, and Spurs have got themselves a real bargain. Paratici deserves enormous praise.
