French outlet Made In Marseillais have claimed that Marseille have made an offer for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, but that the offer is worth just £5.2million.

The 22-year-old has been in excellent form this season, scoring 29 goals in just 45 league and cup appearances. He has also contributed 11 assists for Steven Gerrard’s side.

However, his disciplinary problem shows no signs of improvement. He has picked up 15 yellow cards and five red cards, the latter of which currently sees him suspended.

Rangers are said to value Morelos at a whopping 20million Euros (£17.2million), but Marseille tabled an offer far below that sum – said to be 6million Euros (£5.2million).

The Colombia international is seen as Mario Balotelli’s replacement at Marseille, with the Italian’s contract set to expire at the end of the season. Morelos recently signed a new contract, keeping him at Ibrox until 2023.

TBR’s view

Morelos’ discipline is starting to change fans’ perception of him. The latest red card saw Morelos elbow Celtic captain Scott Brown, leaving Rangers with little chance of beating the Scottish champions.

It is has seen many ask, is he worth it? A potential sale could be on the cards this summer, but at Rangers’ enormous asking price it seems unlikely the former HJK Helsinki striker will leave Glasgow.

Rangers may have to reduce their asking price for Morelos if they are fed up with the striker, and want to offload him. It is also a sign that perhaps the striker is not viewed as good as the club think he is.
