Report: Top-flight club in talks over buying 'excellent' Arsenal player, they think it'll be simple
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira looks increasingly likely to secure a permanent exit from the Emirates this summer.
The 26-year-old has spent the majority of the last two season away from Arsenal on loan.
In October 2020, Torreira was with Atletico Madrid until the end of the season, winning the La Liga title.
The Uruguayan then returned to Arsenal but went out on loan again in August 2021, joining Fiorentina.
While Torreira struggled somewhat in Madrid, the midfielder has been shining in Florence.
He has made 29 appearances in all competitions, becoming a regular under Vincenzo Italiano.
Torreira will have a year left on his Arsenal contract this summer.
However, it looks as though he’ll leave permanently before then.
Firenze Viola – via Sport Witness – has published a report on Fiorentina’s loanees and who could sign permanently.
The Italian outlet claims negotiations over Torreira will be the ‘simplest to solve’ for the Serie A side.
Fiorentina have reportedly started talks with Arsenal regarding the €15m (£12.5million) buying clause.
However, the outlet claims they will sign the player ‘with or without discounts’.
In addition, a rejuvenated Torreira reportedly has a ‘firm desire’ to complete the move.
Torreira is an “excellent” player – in Alan Shearer’s words – who did well for Arsenal when called upon.
However, he seems much more settled in Italy, where he played before joining the Gunners.
As he’s surplus to Arteta’s requirements, this deal looks like it’ll be great for all parties.
