Canadian outlet TVA Sports have claimed that Thierry Henry’s Montreal Impact are set to complete the signing of Tottenham Hotspur teenager Luis Binks, despite the player being considered a real prospect in the Spurs academy.
Binks, 19, has already played for England’s youth teams at multiple levels – picking up caps at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level. He has also been a regular for Tottenham’s Under-23 side, and played under Ryan Mason this season.
Indeed, Binks has clocked up 14 appearances for Tottenham’s second string – as well as starting and finishing all six UEFA Youth League appearances with Mason as boss. A central defender, he is now set to embark on a very surprising move.
Not only is the move surprising given he is set to swap England for the MLS and Canadian side Impact, but also he will be joining Arsenal legend Henry – who is close to completing a raid on his old rivals for the defender.

TBR’s view – Should Tottenham let Binks go?
The rivalry between Henry and Tottenham should hardly prevent a move from being completed. Jonathan Dinzeyi has also left the club to join QPR on trial, and given that he is a central defender, there might be a bit of a realisation among the duo.
Spurs have plenty of options at centre-back. The rise of Jahpet Tanganga has seen Spurs become well-stocked in the area. Toby Alderweireld has signed a new deal, while Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth are all vying for game time.
Cameron Carter-Vickers has had to go on loan multiple times for game time, and both Binks and Dinzeyi may have realised that to further their careers – they need to leave north London. The MLS and Canada, though, is an unusual move.
