Liverpool are reportedly interested in Bayern Munich midfield dynamo Thiago Alcantara, according to a report from Sport Bild.

It is reported in the print edition of the German magazine that the Spanish international could decide to move on from Bavaria, amid two months of contract negotiations with the club.

At 29-years-old, the midfield star reportedly realises that this could be his last chance for a big European move.

The report states that there is interest from Liverpool in Thiago if a new deal cannot be agreed upon.

That is all that is mentioned regarding Liverpool’s interest but there is no doubt they would likely be keen if Thiago became available.

The midfielder is a supreme talent who would suit Jurgen Klopp’s style of football with aplomb. The report also claims that Klopp is a massive fan of the Spaniard.

Klopp has previously mentioned his admiration for the player. He told the press after facing Bayern in 2019 that Thiago is ‘world-class’. When discussing Naby Keita in 2018, he claimed (Express) that the Guinean and the Bayern maestro were previously tied as the best player in the Bundesliga.

“He was two years ago, together with maybe Thiago Alcantara of Bayern, for sure the best player in the Bundesliga by far.”

Now, the future of Keita is in doubt, and in Thiago, Liverpool might have the chance to bring in a perfect replacement.

His contract expires in a year, but it is still unlikely that Thiago comes cheap. However, the German side will undoubtedly not want to lose him on a free and with hopes of signing Leroy Sane, may need to sell someone to balance the books.

At the moment it seems nothing more than a whisper, but Liverpool fans should undoubtedly keep their eyes on this potentially impressive transfer move.
