According to RMC Sport, Liverpool have agreed on a four-year deal with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

It’s been one of the summer’s ongoing transfer stories but it would appear some progress has been made on the contract front.

The report also claims that the fee involved is still to be resolved. Bayern value Thiago at around £30 million, with Liverpool hoping to pay £18 million.

RMC Sport also goes a step further by suggesting that Thiago has found a house to live in ahead of his summer switch to Anfield.

Many other outlets have, however, rubbished these claims and believe Thiago hasn’t been property searching on these shores.

It’s unlikely that any move will be imminent with Bayern preparing to take on Lyon in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Once that tournament is over, however, things could get a bit interesting on this story.

The midfield maestro has been a standout performer over the past 12 months at the Allianz Arena, playing 38 games during 2019/20 and collecting 10 yellow cards (Transfermarkt).

He has helped Bayern progress in the Champions League, where they have won all nine of their fixtures so far.

Alcantara played the full 9o minutes as Bayern defeated Barcelona 8-2 on Friday night – a result which some people think puts their name on the trophy.

Liverpool have Naby Keita, Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner who are all capable of playing in midfield.

TBR View – Thiago could prove to be a class signing

Thiago arguably adds something different and his arrival at the club would represent a solid signing.

He boasts an array of passing, is solid defensively and perhaps more crucially would provide the Liverpool engine room with an injection of something different.

This news sounds like a step in the right direction and it’ll be interesting to see if a deal can be done once the Champions League is over.
