Mikel Arteta needs to be in a strong position at Arsenal by December, otherwise he risks the sack, EuroSport has been told.

Arteta’s job at Arsenal has previously been among the safest in the Premier League.

The Spaniard has always had the full trust of Arsenal’s board, despite a lack of progress under his stewardship so far.

Even this summer, Arsenal’s transfer plans have been heavily dictated by Arteta and Edu – as they have sought young and promising talent.

Improvements needed

But there is now an expectation that Arsenal must start producing results on the field.

Arsenal’s inauspicious start against Brentford, where they lost 2-0, has caused great concern among the fan base.

And while EuroSport’s update suggests that Arteta is not in any imminent danger of losing his job, he is under more pressure this season than ever before.

Arsenal actually have a very difficult start to the campaign in terms of fixtures, so there must be a fear that things could get worse before they get better.

The Gunners’ next two outings are against Chelsea and Manchester City, where they will be heavy underdogs to get the three points.
