Report: Tavares expected to travel on Arsenal pre-season tour
Nuno Tavares is expected to be part of the Arsenal squad for the pre-season tour to Scotland, according to Goal.
The Portuguese full-back is close to sealing his long-awaited £7m transfer to the Gunners. He is currently quarantining after flying in from Portugal last Friday.
The north London giants are travelling north of the border to face Hibernian and Rangers.
After that, they will fly to the United States to play in a tournament in Florida.
Tavares needs a quick introduction to the Arsenal team
Euro 2020 has thrown up some question marks over Kieran Tierney’s start to next season.
The Scotsman is yet to return from his excursions with Scotland during their failed campaign.
Tierney’s injury record may also mean he gets extra time to recover from the tournament.
That could leave Mikel Arteta without a left-back for the start of the new season.
Granit Xhaka is close to a leaving Arsenal, while Sead Kolasinac is also expected to depart.
Tavares will need to adapt quickly to his new surroundings. The ace is yet to sign for the club with just over a month to the start of the new season.
With doubts over Tierney, Arsenal may well need their new signing to start upcoming campaign at left-back.
