The Evening Standard have claimed that Tanguy Ndombele has been offered an enormous wage packet that will see him match Harry Kane’s wages at Tottenham Hotspur, with a move on the verge of completion.

Ndombele, 22, is nearing a move that will see him become Tottenham’s most expensive ever transfer, completing a £62million transfer to north London from French side Olympique Lyonnais.

Spurs highest earner is Kane, with the 25-year-old picking up £200,000 a week. Dele Alli is in second on £150,000, which was the same amount offered to Christian Eriksen – who has turned that offer down.

Now, Ndombele is believed to be earning between £50,000 and £60,000 at Lyon, but is set to meet Kane and Alli at the top of the wage bill when he signs. Ndombele will become the club’s first signing since January 2018.

TBR’s view – Ndombele is a calculated, but expensive Tottenham risk

Indeed, Ndombele is an excellent player that boasts many similar traits to that of Mousa Dembele. Spurs struggled in the middle park after the Belgian left in January, and replacing him was crucial.

For £62million, they have found a player that is arguably better than Dembele, but has age on his side. Ndombele is almost a decade younger than Dembele, who is currently impressing in the Chinese Super League.

Yes, his wages and transfer fee are expensive. But already proven at Champions League level and considered one of the best European midfielders of his age, Ndombele is worth every penny.
