Report: Tanguy Ndombele set to stay at Spurs
Tanguy Ndombele is looking set to stay and remain a Spurs player beyond the summer transfer window, according to a report from The Athletic.
Ndombele had been linked with a move away from North London in recent times. The Frenchman is yet to feature under Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Athletic reports that he had asked to leave. And he was holding out hope of securing a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Obviously however, there were always likely to be two huge stumbling blocks.
Most clubs in Europe are not splashing the cash this summer. Spurs wanted around £55 million to sell Ndombele permanently. Meanwhile, the midfielder is on £200,000-a-week.
That has not stopped Fabio Paratici trying to find a move for the 24-year-old.
According to The Athletic, Spurs have attempted to find a loan or swap deal that involves Ndombele leaving. However, they have, so far, been unsuccessful.
And the report adds that it is now looking likely that Ndombele will stay.
Spurs will benefit massively from Ndombele stay if it can click for him in North London
Tottenham fans know just how good Ndombele can be. On his day, he is one of the most outstanding midfield talents in the Premier League.
Unfortunately, his day has not come around anywhere near often enough during his time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But if he remains at the club beyond the window, it could be a game-changer for Nuno’s men.
Speculation over his future will be put to bed for a while. And he can perhaps focus on getting back into contention for a chance.
Ndombele’s hopes of leaving will be done no favours by him remaining on the sidelines.
And if he feels that he has a point to prove should an opportunity come his way, Spurs may have an amazing option still to unleash.
