Report: Swansea join race for Celtic's Jonny Hayes
According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Swansea City have become the latest club to register an interest in Celtic wide-man Jonny Hayes.
Hayes’s future at Parkhead has suddenly become a real talking point. TEAMtalk reported at the weekend that Cardiff City, Stoke City, Burnley and Huddersfield Town all want the Republic of Ireland international.
And it appears that Steve Cooper’s men can be added to his list of admirers. The Scottish Sun reports that the Swans are interested in the 32-year-old.
The report notes that he is out of contract at Celtic in the summer and can talk to clubs outside of Scotland in January regarding a pre-contract move.
The Scottish Sun suggests that the Hoops want to keep Hayes and are hoping to agree a new deal with the former Aberdeen man.
It has been quite a significant turnaround for Hayes. He was a fairly peripheral figure during his first two seasons at Celtic, but that perception has changed somewhat over the last year.
Hayes has already made 16 appearances in all competitions this season. He is now just six games away from his best tally yet since joining the Bhoys.
It would be a blow for Celtic to lose Hayes just as everything appears to be clicking for him. So it will be interesting to see what the utility man makes of the interest in him.
