Report: ‘Superstar’ Tottenham talent won’t be leaving this month

Tottenham Hotspur talent Bryan Gil has turned his career around at N17 over the past six months.

The Spanish winger joined Spurs from Sevilla in the summer of 2021 to considerable fanfare.

Gil displayed flashes of quality in his early days at Tottenham.

Indeed, Spurs legend Graham Roberts lauded him as a “little superstar”.

However, Conte clearly felt Gil needed to get more experience elsewhere.

This led to a loan switch to Valencia last winter.

The 22-year-old did so well at the Mestalla that fans were desperate for him to stay beyond the summer.

And the La Liga club came close to doing so, only for Antonio Conte to pull the plug on another move.

As per Sky Sports, Spurs didn’t want to bring in a replacement at the time, and so Gil stayed.

In hindsight, it was a great call, because Tottenham have suffered injuries in attack.

Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison have all had time out at various points of the season.

The latter two remain out, which has given the previously peripheral Gil a chance to stake a claim.

He played a part in three of Tottenham’s goals as they hammered Crystal Palace 4-0 in midweek.

Now, Sky Sports have issued an update on their live transfer feed entitled ‘Tottenham’s Gil to stay for rest of season’.

They wrote that the youngster ‘is very unlikely to go out on loan despite interest from Valencia.

‘Spurs manager Antonio Conte is delighted with the Spanish winger, who has started in Tottenham’s last two league games.’

It’s great to see Gil winning the Tottenham coaches over.

Now, with Spurs taking on Portsmouth in the FA Cup today, he’ll surely get another chance to impress.

And then, over the coming months, hopefully he’ll kick on to the point he becomes a regular option in Conte’s squad.
