Sunderland will try to sign Wigan Athletic centre-back Cedric Kipre in the summer if they win promotion, according to the print edition of The Sunday People (via HITC).
The Black Cats are currently preparing for their play-off campaign. But their defending has been questionable, especially in the past few weeks.
If Sunderland win promotion to the Championship, Jack Ross will look for defensive reinforcements. And Kipre features on his summer wishlist.
The Ivory Coast U23 international plays for Wigan in the Championship after joining the club in summer 2018 from Motherwell.

Kipre has played 37 times this season after an impressive in the Scottish Premiership. But the ex-Leicester City defender could be on the move yet again.
Ross’ knowledge of the Scottish leagues would have made him aware of Kipre. And he will try to sign the 22-year-old centre-half in the summer if promotion is achieved.
Sunderland’s current central defensive options include Jack Baldwin, Tom Flanagan and Alim Ozturk. But Ross clearly wants to solve the defensive issues with a new centre-back.
Kipre fits the bill, having proven himself in the second tier. He is young, athletic and will surely improve with more game time in the Championship.
After signing Will Grigg from Wigan in January, Sunderland could return for a second raid on Wigan as they eye Kipre.
