Sunderland to sign player on loan who was once wanted by Barcelona - report
Sunderland are reportedly closing in on the loan signing of Liverpool defender Tony Gallacher.
The Northern Echo reports that the 22-year-old is set to agree the terms of a season-long stint at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland have apparently explored the possibility of signing Gallacher permanently as well.
The Black Cats have begun their pre-season without a recognised left-back.
Callum McFadzean left as a free agent at the end of last season and Denver Hume is still deciding whether to take up Sunderland’s offer of a new deal.

Gallagher progressed through Falkirk’s academy, and made his senior debut in the Scottish Championship.
As a teenager, Barcelona were seemingly interested in the Glaswegian.
“I did not believe it at first,” Gallacher told Sky Sports last November.
“I thought someone had made it up.”
In January 2018, Liverpool signed Gallacher for a reported fee of £200,000.
He has made one senior appearance under Jurgen Klopp, in the 2019 League Cup meeting with Aston Villa.
Gallacher has also spent three months on loan at MLS side Toronto FC.
