Everton’s reported hunt to sign Torino defender Armando Izzo could become increasingly difficult, as his current club consider slapping a huge transfer valuation on his head.
Everton are in the hunt for a centre-back this summer after loanee Kurt Zouma returned to Chelsea. With a permanent deal looking unlikely, other options need to be explored.
Toward the end of last month, Tuttosport reported that Everton were taking a keen interest in the recently capped Italian international. Calciomercato later suggested that a €30 million (£26.9m) valuation had been placed on the player.

However, according to reports from Tuttosport, Torino are preparing to fend off any interest for their player with a new contract.
The report suggests Torino will slap a €50 million (£44.8 million) release clause into a new deal for their centre-back.
It is suggested an agreement ‘is not imminent’ but that Torino are confident of keeping their star defender. It is easy to see Everton spending £26.9 million on Izzo. However, meeting the reported potential release clause would surely be beyond them. Considering a recent report from the BBC suggests Zouma is available at £30 million, it would make even less sense.
If this contract does get signed, then Everton’s interest probably dies along with it.
