Italian outlet CalcioMercato have suggested that AC Milan are considering Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi this month, less than 24 hours after Mustafi claimed he has become “frustrated” by his current side’s supporters.
Mustafi, 27, has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal since the summer after falling down the pecking order. The summer signing of David Luiz has seen Mustafi struggle for game time this season. He has played just 10 times.
The former Valencia and Everton defender, who joined Arsenal for £35million, was asked about criticism from Arsenal supporters and he told the club’s official website that he has become a “little bit frustrated” with the constant comments.
Now, Mustafi could become a target for Milan – after being linked with both Inter Milan and Galatasaray earlier on this month. Milan do have other options on their shortlist at centre-back, but World Cup winner Mustafi is now another one.
TBR’s view – Any offer for Mustafi should be accepted
Unfortunately for the German defender, he simply has no future at The Gunners – especially given the amount of criticism and lack of trust from fans – and he needs to leave for the good of his career. Similarly, Arsenal should sell.
The Gunners have to accept the fact that they are going to make an enormous loss on Mustafi – one that is likely to see them lose as much as £25million on the defender. It remains to be seen if Mustafi will be at Arsenal beyond the deadline.
