Report suggests reason why Nicolas Jackson was so desperate to take Chelsea penalty off Cole Palmer in 6-0 win

Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons after Chelsea hammered Everton by a 6-0 scoreline.

Cole Palmer remarkably scored four goals to make it seven in his last two appearances at Stamford Bridge, but the Chelsea No.20 had the limelight stolen from him due to some seriously unprofessional behaviour from the aforementioned duo.

The Senegal international and the England U21 international truly embarrassed themselves after bickering over who would take the penalty against Everton, only to both lose out as Palmer stepped up.

It was a moment of true petulance – mainly from Nicolas Jackson, as the Chelsea No.15 started the feud all over again as the ball was being placed down – and a potential reason for his odd behaviour has now been suggested…

Potential reason why Nicolas Jackson reacted so angrily towards Cole Palmer

Well, personal aspirations may be the reason behind the 22-year-old’s weird antics at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, according to the Telegraph.

It is believed that Jackson has set himself a target of 15 Premier League goals in his debut campaign at Chelsea, and would also like to net 20 in all competitions.

Therefore, being denied the chance to take a penalty while Chelsea already led 4-0, and seeing his personal aspirations somewhat dented, may have been enough to upset the man from Djibonker.

Jackson did still manage to score against Everton with a fine finish, which took him up to ten Premier League goals in 28 appearances this season, and 13 in 36 games across all competitions.

Some at Chelsea need to grow up

There are a few young talents at Chelsea who appear to be very mature – on the pitch at least – such as Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto, Dorde Petrovic, Alfie Gilchrist and Palmer.

However, the likes of Madueke and Jackson are bringing shame on Chelsea by squabbling over penalties.

In regards to Madueke, this is not even the first time – the Chelsea No.11 was also seen pestering Palmer before the crucial late penalty against Manchester United recently, and had to be dragged away by several teammates.

There is a pecking order, and unless Palmer decides to be charitable and allows someone else to take his penalty, the England international should always be allowed to prepare for a spot kick without his own teammates acting like morons.
