Spanish publication Diario AS has painted a clearer picture of Tottenham Hotspur’s apparent interest in Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho.
The Portuguese powerhouse was recently linked with a move to Tottenham as the club look to strengthen their options in the middle of the park.
The report claims that Mourinho is a big fan of the player and that Betis are increasingly desperate to sell the 28-year-old, as they want to raise funds this summer.
A recent report from AS suggested that Betis would be looking to at least recover the €20 million (£17.7m) investment they have made in the player since snapping up the 6ft 2ins destroyer from Sporting Lisbon in 2018.
Carvalho would, therefore, be a fairly affordable option and would add much-needed grit to a Tottenham midfield that has proved lightweight throughout the 2019-20 campaign.
One issue might be the player’s age, considering Tottenham’s current financial situation. The club are not wanting to spend big this summer unless players have strong resale potential. Carvalho turned 28-years-old in April and Daniel Levy is likely to need some convincing to secure the 59-cap international.
