Rangers are set to make a final approach for Oldham Athletic defender George Edmundson. According to The Scottish Sun a third bid for the player will be made, totaling at £600,000 for the young centre-back.
The fee matches an amount accepted by Oldham from Portsmouth for the player, with Rangers therefore hopeful their bid will also receive a similar response.
The report states that Oldham initially wanted £1 million for the player but are prepared to accept £400,000 less.
Steven Gerrard is clearly a big fan of the player but it appeared they had been priced out of a deal.
However, with the fee coming down, Rangers are right to get back into the hunt.
Edmundson could be a future star at Glasgow and if it comes to a straight choice, Rangers must be his number one choice.
Whilst Portsmouth could offer him plenty, Rangers are just a far bigger club.
The chance to play at Ibrox? European football? Working under the guidance of Gerrard?
Portsmouth will not be relishing doing battle with the Glasgow giants.
Rangers must shell out the £600,000 for the 21-year-old. If they do, then it should be an easy choice for the Oldham man.
