Report suggests no plans to change Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham title, ‘heavily involved’ in recent transfer decisions

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left slightly concerned this week by comments from manager Mauricio Pochettino. As relayed by Sky Sports, the Argentine suggested his job title at Spurs should be changed back to head coach as he has little say in transfer dealings at the club.

“Maybe the club need to change my title description, because my job now is to coach the team. It is not a question for me, it is a question for the club. Maybe the club are going to change my title description.”

The Telegraph, however, are suggesting there will be no such change of title. They report that the Tottenham board feel Pochettino is sufficiently involved in the transfer dealings at the club. It is suggested he was ‘heavily involved’ in the signature of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon and in the sale of Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid.

Tottenham have been dragging their heels over deals for Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon, whilst the future of Danny Rose has also been a major talking point at Spurs.

But The Telegraph’s report seems to suggest that Pochettino’s words are something of a storm in a teacup.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator and that has seemingly delayed transfer plans again this summer.

Tottenham are clearly lacking depth in certain areas of the team and despite an impressive pre-season fans are concerned what it may mean for the upcoming campaign.

Hopefully, Pochettino’s words will simply act as motivation for Levy to get some of these transfers done.
