Everton’s long-term transfer target Borja Iglesias looks to be on the move this summer, but not to Goodison Park.
In January, it appeared Everton had made a bold move to bring in the Spanish striker. As reported by SPORT, Everton had agreed to pay his €28 million (£25.1 million) release clause to make a switch possible.
However, Iglesias rejected any idea of a move in the winter. That was despite it being suggested he might quadruple his salary at Everton.

Iglesias felt that leaving Espanyol in the middle of the season was not a good career move and instead, he stuck with the Catalans. He went on to finish the campaign with 20 goals from 43 appearances.
His goals helped fire Espanyol into next season’s Europa League. But it seems he will not play a part in the Periquitos’ European campaign.
MARCA is reporting that Real Betis are ready to pay the release clause to bring in Iglesias this summer. Espanyol have reportedly accepted they cannot compete financially with Betis and are ready resigned to losing the 26-year-old.
Everton could still make a late swoop for the player but it appears a move to Betis is now just a matter of days away.
