Leeds United were linked with a host of players throughout the summer with one of the more exciting names involved being Rodrigo De Paul.
As reported by 90min, Leeds failed to reach the player’s £40 million valuation, with £25 million their top price, and despite the 26-year-old seemingly wanting the move no deal ever got done.
Indeed, Victor Orta later confirmed to the Yorkshire Evening Post that Leeds simply could not afford the player.
Since then, the Argentine has been the standout player for Udinese, performing brilliantly in a deeper midfield role than his usually more advanced position.

So could Leeds make a second approach for the player in January, especially with the Whites clearly looking short of options in central midfield.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, that would seem an unlikely scenario.
In a Q&A with the chief Leeds United correspondent Graham Smyth this week it was confirmed that Leeds never actually made an official approach for De Paul in the summer, such was the height of his valuation. It was also made clear that no deal looks likely in January either, with De Paul simply out of Leeds United’s current price-range.
Leeds fans might be disappointed but given that £40 million price-tag, are unlikely to be surprised.
The West Yorkshire side do need to start considering whether they need another central midfield option however this summer, a position they have looked most vulnerable to injury this campaign.
But De Paul remains an unlikely get from the Whites.
