Leeds United have reportedly identified ‘five top targets’ as they look to boost their squad ahead of a return to the Premier League.
That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who claim that Leeds have a quintet of targets that they feel can sufficiently improve the squad for 2020-21.
One of those would appear to be Wigan Athletic forward Joe Gelhardt. The same report claims that Leeds are confident of winning the race for the young attacker, who also has interest from several other Premier League teams.
But Leeds feel the more likely first-team opportunities on offer at Elland Road will convince Gelhardt into a West Yorkshire switch.

Of course, hearing that Leeds have five transfer targets will excite the club’s fans, although they might be surprised the number is so low.
The newly-promoted side have been linked with a whole host of names ever since they confirmed their spot in the Premier League, with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Thiago Almada and Florentino Luis among the more eye-catching.
What is for certain is that Leeds need at least one new centre-back, with Ben White leaving and Gaetano Berardi’s future in doubt, whilst another striker is also on the agenda.
Hopefully, Victor Orta can deliver and bring in all of the Leeds targets this summer, giving Marcelo Bielsa even more reason to stick around at Elland Road.
