Report suggests Leeds United could still sign one more attacker despite Marcelo Bielsa denial

Despite Marcelo Bielsa saying Leeds United’s transfer business is done it is being reported that the Championship side could be considering one further attacking addition this month.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim their sources are suggesting the West Yorkshire side could add another attacker to the team before the end of the transfer window.

Leeds United have already snapped up Ian Poveda from Manchester City and Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig as replacements for outgoing loanees Jack Clarke and Eddie Nketiah.

But it seems there is room for another attacker, according to this report.

“No, we are not going to add another player, so no.”

The report in question was initially referencing Jarrod Bowen’s contract situation at Hull City. The Championship star has been the subject of reported Leeds interest this month, but it is not known if he is the player referred to.

Whilst it would seem Leeds are done in attacking options, there could easily be scope for another addition.

Augustin and Patrick Bamford should provide the striking options going forward but in the wide areas, there could still be room for improvement. Jack Harrison, Helder Costa, Pablo Hernandez, Ezgjan Alioski and new signing Poveda currently fill those roles whilst Tyler Roberts can also play out wide.

However, Alioski has increasingly been used as a left-back whilst Roberts and Hernandez are often used in a more central playmaker role. Poveda, at just 19-years-old, is a top talent but has never played a first-team league game.

The likelihood is that Leeds are done with their transfer business, as Bielsa says. However, they could easily be keeping their ear to the ground regarding any potential recruits too good to turn down.

If that is the case, no Leeds fan would regret an extra pair of legs to help in the promotion battle.
