Reports from Italy are suggesting that Leeds United might not need to pay as hefty a fee as previously thought to secure the signature of Argentine defender Lucas Martinez Quarta.
That is according to a report from Calciomercato, who are detailing Leeds United and Inter Milan’s interest in the River Plate defender.
They report that the River defender could be available for around €12-15 million (£11m-£13.7m) this summer. That would be a huge reduction on his current release clause, which sits at around €22 million (£20m).

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Leeds United throughout the week, as the Whites look to replace Ben White. The Brighton loanee had a stellar season at Elland Road in 2019-20 but is now expected to play a major role for the Seagulls next season.
Hearing that Quarta will be available for a fraction of his release clause price will undoubtedly have Leeds United fans excited about the possible arrival of the defensive talent.
Leeds United have been linked with a host of names since they secured their place back in the Premier League, many of them Argentine talents clearly linked due to Marcelo Bielsa’s background.
So time will tell if Leeds’ interest is as solid as it seems.
If it is, then it appears they will not need to spend as much as first thought to secure Martinez Quarta’s signature.
