Everton midfielder James McCarthy is expected to leave the club this summer, according to reports.
The Republic of Ireland international’s future at Everton has long been a topic for discussion. Signed by Roberto Martinez in 2013 the midfield dynamo soon became one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers.
So much so, that in 2015, the Daily Mail reported Tottenham Hotspur as ready to spend £25 million on the player.

Everton rejected any notion of selling McCarthy at the time.
Unfortunately, that has not proved the case. The 41-cap international has played just 20 times for Everton over the past three seasons. The Irishman has suffered various injury problems, including a horror leg break.
It does not seem as though the 28-year-old has managed to play his way into the thinking of current Everton boss Marco Silva.
As reported by The Telegraph, McCarthy is now ‘expected to leave’ Everton this summer.
There is likely to be a long queue of admirers for the Irish international and Everton should have no problem finding a potential buyer.
It is just a shame his once promising looking Everton career has been hampered by injury concerns.
