Report suggests Hugo Lloris is in final Tottenham Hotspur contract, could leave before it expires in 2022

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is currently under his final contract with the club.

That is according to Football.London, who state that the World Cup-winning Frenchman is ‘unlikely to prolong his stay’ at Tottenham beyond his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2022.

Lloris will be 34 on Boxing Day, and 35 when his contract expires and it is suggested another deal will either not be on the table for the veteran, or he may have designs on moving elsewhere.

It is claimed that Lloris could even leave earlier if the right opportunity presents itself to him and the club, with Tottenham having, realistically, only next summer left to receive a decent financial return by selling the club captain.

This will, of course, not come as a big surprise to Tottenham supporters, with Lloris’ advancing years a well-established threat to the goalkeeping position at the North London club.

Lloris has previously made it clear that he does not see himself finishing his career at Tottenham. In September last year, he informed France Football he would carry on after a Tottenham exit, even suggesting a future stateside in Major League Soccer.

The good news is that Lloris remains a top option for now and Tottenham have plenty of time to establish who they would like to bring in as his long-term replacement between the sticks.

Hopefully, before Lloris does make his North London exit, he can sign off with some long awaited domestic silverware to go alongside his 2018 World Cup winner’s medal.
