Everton may still have a chance of signing Sassuolo talent Davide Frattesi, according to reports in Italy.
It was reported by ForzaRoma in March that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti wanted to keep tabs on the player who has been on loan at Empoli this season.
However, that report suggested Everton had a big task on their hands keeping Frattesi. His former club Roma were also keen on bringing him back to the capital with the player open to the move.
Over the past few weeks, the Everton trail has gone cold with it widely anticipated that Frattesi will be on his way back to the Stadio Olimpico.

However, that no longer appears to be the case.
ForzaRoma is now reporting that Roma are in danger of failing in their pursuit of the central midfielder.
Roma reportedly have a €12 million (£10.7m) option to re-sign Frattesi, who they sold to Sassuolo in 2-17. However, the new report claims that Roma are no longer willing to pay that much and the renegotiation is putting a potential return to Rome in jeopardy for the Italian under-21 star.
Everton, therefore, would be wise to keep an eye on developments and consider a swoop of their own for the youngster who was one of the stars of last summer’s under-20 World Cup.
With Roma seemingly struggling to get any deal over the line, Everton could be in a perfect position to hijack this move and give Ancelotti a top young central midfielder to work with at Goodison Park.
