Everton are set to battle Ajax for the signature of talented Colombia centre-back Carlos Cuesta this summer. The youngster has been in fine form for Colombia at the Under-20 World Cup this summer and the Toffees are keen on the 20-year-old talent.
As reported by BeSoccer, quoting Antena 2, Ajax are looking at Cuesta has being a potential replacement for Matthijs De Ligt, who is set to leave the club this summer.
Everton recruitment chief Marcel Brands has a strong reputation for bringing in South American talent from his time at PSV. That is already looking like being prevalent at Everton, with a move for Argentine star Santiago Sosa currently ongoing.

TBR’s View
Cuesta would be an equally impressive get for Everton.
He was a standout player at the under-20 World Cup and has been a regular in the Atletico Nacional first-team picture since the age of 17.
Not only is he physically gifted for the role of centre-back, but he is also brilliant with the ball at his feet and has the potential to become a top central defender.
If Everton can bring him in, they could have a potential long-term defensive rock on their hands.
