Celtic are reportedly keeping tabs of Peterborough star striker Ivan Toney, ahead of the summer transfer window.
Plenty of other clubs appear to be keen on the player, including Old Firm rivals Rangers, but Posh director of football Barry Fry confirmed to the Daily Mail that Celtic are indeed interested.
With Celtic worried about a potential exit of star striker Odsonne Edouard, a move for the impressive League One star would make sense.
However, The Scottish Sun made it clear that Celtic would not meet Toney’s apparent £15 million price-tag.
But there may be some good news. According to a report from the Bristol Post, that price-tag has been slashed by more than half ahead of the summer.
Bristol City are also keen on Toney and the report suggests that Peterborough may actually be willing to do business if a bid of around £6 million is made for Toney.

It seems an odd suggestion just days after Fry made it clear £15 million was the going rate. However, Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has admitted the club will stick to their word and let Toney go this summer. Amid the current global health crisis and with Peterborough, rather unfairly, condemned to another season in League One, Toney’s valuation may have to drop.
Celtic are right to be interested in the striker, who has scored an impressive 26 goals in 39 games this season.
Whilst the reports claim £6 million as a more likely figure, you can bet Peterborough will still be looking to recoup as close to their £15 million valuation as possible and Celtic will not have it easy.
However, a move for Toney does suddenly look a little more realistic.
