Celtic’s transfer move for Copenhagen defender Peter Ankersen has seemingly come to nothing. As reported by The Scottish Sun earlier in the week, Celtic were looking into a deal for the Danish international.
However, the Daily Record is now suggesting that deal is no longer being pursued. The report states that Celtic have ‘cooled’ on a move for the player.
The reason why has not been given but it seems Celtic will be looking elsewhere in the right-back department.

Celtic need a new player in the position after the departure of Mikael Lustig. The Swedish international has left the club on a free transfer, joining Belgian side Gent on a three-year deal.
Ankersen, who has 22 caps for Denmark, would have been replacing Lustig for the second time in his career. He joined Rosenborg in 2012 as a replacement for Celtic-bound Lustig.
However, it appears the 28-year-old is no longer on Celtic’s radar.
Even without Lustig’s departure, Celtic were likely to be on the hunt for a new right-back. The Swede’s performances have dipped in recent years and a new face in the role is needed.
Ankersen, however, will not be that face.
