Aston Villa are interested in signing Max Aarons from Norwich City this summer, according to a report from The Telegraph.
The Villans look to be setting their sights high during this window. Dean Smith’s side stayed up on the final day of last season. And it appears that they are looking to ensure that they are nowhere near that position this time next year.
The Sun suggested on Tuesday that Villa have made an enquiry for Celtic’s £40 million-rated striker Odsonne Edouard. And he is not the only high-profile name on Smith’s wishlist.
The Telegraph reports that Villa are also interested in signing Aarons.
The right-back appears to be attracting a lot of attention this summer. The Sunday Mirror (19/7; page 67) claimed that Wolves were in the running.
Meanwhile, Sky Germany have recently reported that Bayern Munich want the £18 million-rated 20-year-old.
TBR View: Aarons deal would be big statement for Smith’s side
The interest in Aarons highlights just how much potential the full-back appears to have. Norwich obviously struggled this past season, but Aarons looks to have an incredibly bright future ahead of him.
It would therefore, be a big statement if Villa could sign the youngster this summer to improve their options at right-back.
Frederic Guilbert struggled for consistency last season. He produced some outstanding performances. But he also endured some miserable occasions.
It would be no surprise to see Aarons offered the chance to stay at the highest level ahead of next season. And Smith is seemingly hoping that they could be the side that wins the race for his signature.
