Report: Stoke, QPR and Turkish sides want Aston Villa’s Neil Taylor

According to the Sun, Aston Villa defender, Neil Taylor, is wanted by a host of clubs this summer after losing his place under Dean Smith.

Since Villa signed Matty Targett, Taylor has found first-team football hard to come by under Smith. He has made just the single PL appearance this season, coming on for 15 minutes against Manchester City.

And with Villa likely to be active in the market again this summer, Taylor could be one of the players that makes way. The Sun reports that Stoke, QPR, and two clubs in Turkey are interested in signing the 32-year-old Welshman.

Per Transfermarkt, Taylor’s contract is up this season, meaning Villa will have a nice £32k-a-week in the coffers spare, if information from Spotrac is to be believed.

Taylor made 14 appearances last season as Villa managed to stay up by the skin of their teeth. But the addition of Targett has left him out of the reckoning, meaning a move away was always likely.

TBR View: Taylor a good servant for Villa with plenty to offer

Everyone has a time when it comes to saying goodbye to a club and it just looks like that’s the way it’s going with Taylor and Villa.

He’s been a good player for them and played a key role in their climb back to the top. He deserves another move somewhere and there’s no doubt he’ll leave with the best wishes of Dean Smith if he does go.

A move to Turkey might be tempting, but at 32, a move to the Championship might suit better. Stoke and QPR are both good clubs and both places where Taylor would likely be a regular.
