Steven Gerrard’s influence looks set to be key as Rangers are reportedly closing in on bringing two talented youngsters to Glasgow this summer.

It is reported by the Daily Record that the Ibrox club have won the race for both Tony Weston and Jamie Graham, with announcements of a Rangers move seemingly around the corner for both players.

Rangers have previously been rumoured to be in pursuit of the Blackpool and Ross County player’s respectively, but competition was reportedly fierce.

Several other clubs were keen on Weston, who is said to be valued in the £250,000 region. However, it is claimed the Liverpudlian has been swayed into joining Rangers by the presence of Merseyside hero Gerrard’s presence at Ibrox.

Weston has featured in one FA Cup game for the Seasiders this season and Rangers will hope he can eventually blossom into a first-team regular at Ibrox.

The same report also states that Rangers are close to agreeing terms with Graham over a move, with the youngster rejecting moves to several top English clubs to head to Auchenhowie and will join the Rangers academy.

Rangers fans will be hoping that their two new recruits can become future stars at Ibrox and leave the other clubs who chased their signatures wondering what might have been.
