Report: Steven Gerrard has four Rangers stars on Villa list, most-likely duo could cost more than £30m

Steven Gerrard wants to lure Rangers quartet Ryan Kent, Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara and Nathan Patterson to Aston Villa, according to 90Min.

Having joined Villa last week, numerous reports are linking Gerrard with raiding his old side for some of their best players. Four are on his list.

The report states that while Kent and Barisic are in his thinking, Rangers will not want a fire sale. They are two of the club’s best players.

However, the report states that Kamara and Patterson could prove somewhat easier to sign – despite Kamara recently signing a new contract.

Rangers announced losses of more than £20million over the last financial year. Failing to qualify for the Champions League group stages was a blow.

Kamara and Patterson could be targeted as early as January – but 90Min does report that the duo would cost more than £30million.

Kamara and Patterson to Villa: Should Gerrard raid Rangers?

Villa have a good squad, with plenty of depth. Not only that, but they also have plenty of excellent young stars coming through, Jacob Ramsey etc.

What do they need? Well, cover at right-back – or competition – for Matty Cash. Better competition for Douglas Luiz and John McGinn, too.

Patterson would be ideal, then. But 90Min say he has interest from Everton, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.

Kamara would also be a good addition, and presents a better midfield alternative to Marvelous Nakamba.

In terms of Kent and Barisic – well, Ashley Young and Matty Targett are at left-back – and Leon Bailey and Emi Buendia were signed in the summer.
