Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is now actively considering other midfield options as a deal to bring Bongani Zungu to Ibrox looks to be on the verge of collapse, according to reports.
The Daily Record previously reported that Rangers had agreed a £3.5 million deal to sign the South African international. Le11 Amienois then stated that Zungu was missing his team’s most recent friendly match as the move to Rangers was ‘close’.
However, Rangers appear to have hit some sort of snag. The Scotsman is reporting that there has been difficulty in establishing personal terms for the Bafana Bafana international.
The Scottish Sun is, therefore, claiming that Rangers boss Gerrard is now looking at alternative options to add some strength in depth to his midfield position.
It would appear there is no issue with the player’s current club Amiens, who will seemingly have offers from Spain and Italy to contend with for the player, but Rangers simply cannot come to terms with the player.
It would be a big blow to Rangers, as Zungu has been excitingly compared to the likes of Yaya Toure and Paul Pogba by the media in his home nation.
But if they are not getting any close to a deal for the player, then Gerrard is right to move on and identify alternative options for the Ibrox club.
