Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring Koen Casteels closely, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Wolfsburg goalkeeper is seen as a cheaper alternative to Nick Pope.
The Mail suggests that Pope is Spurs’ top target between the sticks amid doubts over Hugo Lloris’s future. However, the report notes that the Burnley stopper is set to cost more than £30 million.

It is suggested that that may price Tottenham out of the running. And instead, they are considering other options.
According to the Mail, Casteels has been scouted extensively. They also report that Mike Maignan is on their radar.

Casteels is a Belgium international currently plying his trade with Wolfsburg. He has been a part of Roberto Martinez’s set-up for some time, but only made his debut for his country last year.
And he has been performing well in the Bundesliga this year. According to FBRef, only Peter Gulacsi has conceded fewer goals per 90 minutes this season.
Meanwhile, no goalkeeper boasts a better save percentage from shots on target than Casteels.
Considering that they are apparently looking for an alternative for Pope, those numbers could be particularly significant.
Pope is an outstanding shot-stopper. So Casteels’s number being high in that high must alert Spurs.
Tottenham fans will not be best pleased to hear that an asking price of around £30 million is set to be out of their price range this summer. But Casteels could prove a shrewd addition if Spurs are indeed working with a tight budget.
