Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Sevilla defender Diego Carlos, according to a report from Spanish outlet La Razon, in a potential move that could see Davinson Sanchez head in the opposite direction.

The 28-year-old has been superb for Julen Lopetegui’s men this season. And it appears that his form is not going unnoticed.

According to La Razon, Spurs want Diego. And the encouraging news for Jose Mourinho is that Sevilla will have to make a big sale in the summer.

Diego is one of the contenders to move on. The report notes that his release clause is worth £63.9 million (€75m). But Spurs have a potential ace up their sleeve.

La Razón notes that Sevilla want Sanchez. And it is suggested that Diego’s asking price could be lowered should the Colombian end up moving to Spain as part of the deal.

TBR View: Spurs should jump at chance to secure swap

If there is scope for a swap, it seems unlikely Tottenham fans would have any problem with a deal being agreed.

Sanchez has endured a mixed time in North London. There are times when he shows exactly why Spurs parted with a huge fee to sign him. However, he has struggled to kick on and move towards realising his full potential.

Diego is a player in his prime, shining for the second-best defence in La Liga this season.

It seems a no-brainer.
