Tottenham Hotspur have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Emerson Royal as he continues to impress with Real Betis, according to a report from Estadio Deportivo.
Emerson finds himself in a strange situation heading into the summer. He has spent the last two years with Betis. However, they may be powerless to prevent him from becoming a Barcelona player.

The two clubs both contributed to the fee that brought him to Spain in 2019. And according to Estadio Deportivo, Barca have the option to bring him to the Nou Camp for £7.7 million (€9 million).
But that may not be the end of the uncertainty for Emerson. A number of clubs would be keen to purchase him straight away.

Mundo Deportivo recently reported that Arsenal wanted the 22-year-old. And Estadio Deportivo is now claiming that Spurs have joined the race, along with AC Milan and PSG.
It does appear that Barcelona may be open to an immediate sale. Another report from Mundo Deportivo claimed that PSG have been given the go-ahead from the Catalan giants to make a £21.4 million move (€25 million).
Jose Mourinho is currently well-stocked for options at right-back. However, Matt Doherty has not enjoyed the best first season in North London.
Meanwhile, Serge Aurier is heading into the final year of his contract next term (via Football London). So it is not out of the question for the Ivorian to be sold in the coming months.
So if one of those two leave, it is surely a safe bet to assume that someone else will be coming in.
Perhaps Emerson is the player they want.
