Report: Spurs want £21m striker who's been compared to Berbatov; his agent was in England last week
Tottenham Hotspur have hit the ground running in the summer transfer window.
Spurs have already signed Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic.
And it looks as though Tottenham aren’t done yet in the market.
Fabrizio Romano claimed last week that Spurs are now focusing on a new right-back and a new centre-back.
However, Tottenham appear to be looking for a new striker as well.
Now, according to BILD, Tottenham have rekindled their interest in Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic.
The German outlet – via Sport Witness – claims Spurs have the 24-year-old on their radar.
Tottenham were reportedly eyeing Kalajdzic last year, when Harry Kane’s Spurs future appeared uncertain.
Now, it looks as though Tottenham want the 6ft 7in colossus in their ranks alongside the England captain.
The report also claims that Kalajzdic’s representative, Sascha Empacher, was in England last week.
Apparently, the ‘greatest interest’ his client is receiving is coming from the Premier League.
BILD don’t mention whether the agent has held talks with Antonio Conte’s side.
However, they do state Tottenham are eyeing Kalajzdic, a year after looking at him as a potential Kane replacement.
Stuttgart reportedly don’t want the Austria international to leave for less than €25m (around £21m).
But Kalajzdic’s contract expires in 2023, so their hand won’t be particularly strong in negotiations.
The report adds that, if the player doesn’t leave Stuttgart this summer, the club will look to extend his contract by one year and offer him a pay rise.
This is to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
Can Spurs land Berba 2.0?
Kalajdzic helped Stuttgart avoid relegation from the Bundesliga last season.
He weighed in with six goals and two assists from 15 league matches, finishing as their top scorer.
This is despite a shoulder injury keeping him out of the side until January.
In 2020-21, Kalajdzic registered an impressive 17 goals and six assists in all competitions.
