Spurs are set to ramp up their efforts to sign Cristian Romero in the coming weeks, with the club keen to have the Argentinian ready for the Premier League opener against Man City.

Tottenham kick off the new campaign in the most difficult fashion possible, albeit a big chance for Nuno Santo make an instant impression.

Santo is likely to include new signings Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil in the squad. However, he is also hoping to have Cristian Romero available as well.

Di Marzio claims that, while a deal isn’t signed off yet, Spurs and Fabio Paratici will ramp up their efforts in the next week. It is claimed Spurs want Romero to be signed, sealed, and delivered in time for the City fixture.

It’s claimed by Di Marzio that an offer of £50m+ is already on the table for Romero. Atalanta are ready to do business, but want time to bring a replacement in. Romero, too, is said to now openly want the move to Spurs.

Romero could be joined in North London by fellow Serie A defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese star reportedly agreed terms weeks ago, although no deal has been confirmed as yet.

Time to deliver for Paratici

The signings of Gollini and Gil are both good captures, but Romero is the one Paratici wants. It will be a statement signing, and one which proves Spurs are here to compete.

Romero clearly wants the move to London, and he is ready to come over to England as soon as the deal is complete.

Ideally, Spurs get this done in the next few days. That gives Romero time to clear Covid-19 protocols and bed in with the squad.
