Report: Spurs to make their move for 'incredible' CB today, he's been compared to Vidic

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window this summer, bringing in six new players.

Spurs have also sold three players and loaned Joe Rodon out to Rennes with an option to buy.

With just under a month to go until the transfer window closes, Tottenham appear to have more business on the cards.

According to Corriere Fiorentino – via Sport Witness – Spurs are going to make contact over Nikola Milenkovic.

Antonio Conte is thought to be a fan of the Fiorentina defender, who could be a replacement for Japhet Tanganga.

As well as Tottenham, the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen on Milenkovic.

Spurs are apparently out in front alongside the Bianconeri and will carry out ‘in-depth studies’ of the deal today.

‘That will almost certainly involve asking Fiorentina, or the player’s agent, how much the transfer would cost,’ added Sport Witness.

The report also claimed Milenkovic’s starting price is around €15m, or £12.5m.

Tottenham have signed Clement Lenglet on loan, but Rodon has left and Tanganga could follow.

So it’s not surprising to see Conte and Fabio Paratici on the lookout for more signings in defence.

“Incredible potential”

Milenkovic has been dubbed as the new Nemanja Vidic, mainly because they share the same nationality and play in the same position.

However, under the right manager, he can surely reach the heights that the ex-Manchester United skipper did in his prime.

Conte, one of the best managers in the world right now, could well be that man.

Standing a mighty 6ft 5in tall, Milenkovic would have no problems adjusting to the physicality of the Premier League.

He is fantastic in the air, good with the ball at his feet and most importantly, he can defend.

“Clubs like Manchester United, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich,” former Partizan Belgrade director Ivica Iliev told Labaro Viola earlier this year.

“Milenkovic is already ready for these teams. £40m for Milenkovic would be fair. (He has) incredible potential.”
