Tottenham are already working on a potential agreement that could see Gareth Bale sign permanently at the end of the season, according to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Bale has made an encouraging start to life back in North London. Spurs fans were aware that the 31-year-old was always going to take some time to get up to speed after a frustrating time at Real Madrid.

And it is probably fair to say that Tottenham are yet to see the best of Bale just yet. But there have been reminders of what he can do.
He nearly scored a stunning goal in the dramatic draw with West Ham on his debut. And he already has a winning goal under his belt – heading home late on against Brighton at the start of this month.

It remains to be seen how the rest of his spell plays out. But it would appear that Spurs are already gearing up to potentially try and keep him beyond the end of his loan.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are working to sign Bale permanently for £13.5 million. It is noted that Los Blancos should be open to shifting his wages off the bill. So perhaps, it may prove to be a deal that all sides want.
It should be noted that Football London have previously claimed that Spurs already have the option to extend Bale’s loan for a second season. So it may be that they do not need to discuss a permanent move.
TBR View: Potential permanent move should hand Bale boost
There have been flashes of brilliance from the Welshman. But Jose Mourinho may be hoping that the prospect of a permanent deal motivates him further.
It was always difficult to imagine him playing regularly for Madrid again in the future. So the chance to rejoin Tottenham permanently must surely appeal to the forward.
The report hints that the transfer fee required may not leave Spurs needing to break the bank. But his wages do perhaps add an element of risk to any future deal.
So Bale perhaps needs to prove that he can still contribute in a Tottenham side that currently boasts an already devastating forward line.
