Tottenham Hotspur have taken up the option to extend Cameron Carter-Vickers’s contract, but Football London reports that he is still set to be sold this summer.
The writing seems to have been on the wall for some time for the centre-back. He has not appeared for Tottenham since the 2016/17 campaign.

Since then, he has been loaned out six times to clubs in the Championship. He is currently plying his trade at Bournemouth.
The Cherries have used the USA international regularly since the turn of the year. And Football London seems to have hinted that they would be interested in making his move permanent.

They may have hoped that they could sign him on a free transfer given that his contract was set to expire in the summer.
However, Football London reports that Spurs are thought to have taken up the option to extend Carter-Vickers’ deal by a year.
But it seems that that decision has been taken with a summer sale in mind.
TBR View: Smart move from Tottenham
It looks to be an incredibly shrewd move from Spurs to extend Carter-Vickers’s contract. His stock seems to have risen once again after a difficult few years.
They may be able to command a decent fee now that he is doing well on the south coast. So you could certainly see why Tottenham have looked to tie him down for beyond this summer.
