Tottenham Hotspur are not yet ready to throw in the towel in their pursuit with Brendan Rodgers, with the Daily Mail reporting that they remain hopeful that he could experience a change of heart.

Spurs are continuing their search for Jose Mourinho’s successor. The Daily Mail hints that Julian Nagelsmann was initially their top target before his appointment at Bayern Munich.

Their attention then switched to the Leicester City boss. But Rodgers has insisted that he is not looking to leave the King Power Stadium.

However, that does not appear to have put Spurs off completely. The Daily Mail reports that they believe that Rodgers could yet change his mind about heading to North London.

TBR View: Holding out hope for Rodgers could be gamble from Spurs

There is arguably little harm in Tottenham not shutting the door on Rodgers just yet – as long as they do not put all of their eggs in one basket.

Leicester fans may be find it quite funny to see reports saying Tottenham are still hopeful of luring Rodgers away based on what he has said about the links.

But Spurs are a huge club. So if they can finish the campaign on a high, perhaps they may feel that they are in better position to attract a higher-profile name.

Whether that could be enough to change Rodgers’s mind remains to be seen. But they may as well keep that door open if they feel that he is the standout candidate.
