Report: Spurs scouts have watched £15m RWB in international action, he's an absolute 'machine'
Tottenham Hotspur haven’t wasted any time in signing new players this summer.
Spurs have already brought Ivan Perisic to N17, and Fraser Forster will reportedly join him soon too.
Tottenham are apparently also looking at bolstering their ranks at right wing-back.
Antonio Conte currently has Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty in that position.
However, the Spurs boss reportedly wants to bring in someone new.
Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence is said to be on Tottenham’s radar.
But now, Danish outlet Ekstrabladet has linked Spurs with another player.
They claim Tottenham scouts were in attendance at the Ernst Happel Stadion on Monday for Denmark’s win over Austria.
The Spurs scouts were apparently watching Christian Eriksen – a reported long-time target – and Joakim Maehle.
The latter is a 25-year-old full-back who plies his trade for Italian outfit Atalanta.
Maehle is a right-back by trade, but has been regularly playing on the left flank too.
Indeed, most of his Denmark appearances have come on the left.
Maehle joined the Serie A side from Genk in January 2021 for a reported £12.3million.
He has made 60 appearances for Atalanta, including 35 last season.
Maehle has also won 27 caps for Denmark, registering an impressive nine goals and four assists.
He has earned plaudits from the likes of Kasper Schmeichel and Ian Wright.
“The guy’s a machine,” the goalkeeper told Goal.com last year after the 4-1 win over Russia at Euro 2020.
“I think he’s still running inside in the dressing room, on the treadmill!”
Wright, meanwhile, said on ITV, via the Daily Mail: “Along with Spinazzola, Maehle has been fantastic in this tournament.”
Italian outlet Il Giorno recently claimed Tottenham were readying a bid of just over £15m for Maehle.
