Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been the subject of much speculation about his future in recent weeks.

However, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho seems eager to retain the England international’s services beyond the end of the transfer window, according to a report in the Daily Mail published on Friday.

The outlet claims that Tottenham have turned down a £3million offer from Paris Saint-Germain to sign Alli on loan, Spurs telling the Ligue 1 side that they won’t consider letting him leave.

Several reports prior to the Daily Mail piece, such as one in The Telegraph from Thursday, claimed that PSG had been in talks over Alli and were looking to make one final push for his services.

Alli returned to action for Tottenham on Thursday when he replaced Giovani Lo Celso at half time in Spurs’ Europa League playoff meeting with Maccabi Haifa.

The 24-year-old – making just his third appearance of the season – won and scored a stoppage-time penalty en route to a superb 7-2 win.

Mourinho is known to be a coach who demands high standards, and Alli didn’t seem to be meeting them beforehand, but he has upped his game and is now back in contention for game time.

Media speculation will always go into a frenzy when a manager doesn’t give one of his team’s marquee players much game time, and it has proven the case with the £100,000-a-week ace over the past few weeks.

Judging by this latest report, however, it looks as though Mourinho still has Alli in his plans – and given he is a high-calibre player with plenty to offer, it’s hardly surprising.
