Report: Spurs reject £100m Manchester City Kane bid and say no to any players in return
Spurs have delivered a hammer blow to Manchester City and their hopes of signing Harry Kane, by refusing to entertain the idea of getting players in return.
City had been hoping to pay around £100m for Kane and then throw in a player or two to sweeten the deal. Stars such as Gabriel Jesus, Aymeric Laporte, and even Raheem Sterling, had all been mentioned.
But The Express has reported that Spurs and Daniel Levy have no such interest in doing such a deal. Levy is only interested in a straight cash transfer, and has already rejected £100m, according to The Mirror.
The Mirror also claim that City have yet to up that £100m offer and that they are frantically trying to come up with a way to get the deal done.
Levy is thought to be wanting around £150m to even entertain the idea of selling Kane to their PL rivals. And with Jack Grealish having signed for City for £100m this summer, Spurs feel they are asking a fair price for Kane.
TBR’s View: City need to pay up, or shut up
This has rumbled on all summer and while you do have to be patient with some signings, this is getting ridiculous.
The ball is in City’s court, really. They have the money to pay for Kane, it’s just a case of if they feel there is value in that deal and if they can move some other players out too.
£150m is an obscene amount of money. But then Kane is one of the world’s top strikers, who sometimes you get what you pay for.
