Report: Spurs receive Carter-Vickers enquiry from Newcastle

Newcastle United appear to have stepped up their interest in Cameron Carter-Vickers with 90min reporting that the Magpies have made an enquiry for the Spurs defender.

Carter-Vickers seems to be one of several Tottenham players facing an uncertain future in North London.

The 23-year-old is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the club. He has spent the large majority of the last few years out on various loan spells in the Championship.

Interestingly, he has been involved under Nuno Espirito Santo in pre-season. But with 12 months remaining on his contract, Spurs seemingly need to make a final decision on his future this summer.

And Newcastle will be hoping that they decide to let him go. According to 90min, the Magpies have stolen a march on the likes of Celtic and others interested in his signature.

Their report claims that an enquiry has now been made. It appears that they hope to sign him permanently.

Should Spurs leave door open for one final loan for Carter-Vickers as Newcastle make enquiry?

It seems unlikely that Carter-Vickers will make the grade at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Unfortunately, he has not been able to really kick on out on loan. Some of his spells have been impressive. But others have been more underwhelming.

So Spurs should certainly welcome any permanent offers. However, perhaps they should also be open to the idea of one final loan.

If Newcastle take him temporarily, the USA international will get the chance to show what he can do in the Premier League.

Tottenham may be left with food for thought should he thrive. And even if they still opt to sell, his stock will be much higher. Obviously, this is assuming he is handed a new contract.

Spurs should probably accept any substantial bids in this window. But maybe the idea of loaning him out should not be taken off the table just yet either.
